About Ruby Rose Ranch

Check Availability / Make Reservation

This mountain refuge, the Ruby Rose Ranch, is set on 22 acres of ponderosa pine with verdant meadows and stunning views of the La Plata Mountains and Mesa Verde. There are hiking trails with bridges over the seasonal stream which provides the water for a lively pond -- a lovely place to drop a fishing line or rest in reverie.

THE SPA AT RUBY ROSE RANCHHidden amidst the greenery are idyllic places to picnic, sit and read or watch for the elk, deer and other wildlife roaming and flying about the property.

Closer to the lodge itself there are shaded lawns, gardens, screen houses, outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills, a horseshoe pit and a rejuvenating hot tub from which to gaze at the scintillating starry skies.

Rock on the front porch or sit on a deck, laze in one of the hammocks, watch the hummingbirds, and plan your next adventure.

Breakfast & Amenities

RELAX AND ENJOY A FANTASTIC BREAKFASTYour sumptuous breakfast will be served, depending on the weather, in the bed and breakfast living/dining room, or on the frontporch. Whether you are looking for hearty fare, have special dietary needs, or are ready for a delightful epicurean experience, your palate will be pleased. Later in the afternoon, home-baked goodies and other treats will greet your return to the ranch. Coffee and teas will always be available as well as seasonally appropriate other drinks. Feel free to bring a bottle of wine or beer to the property and we will provide you with cooling, ice, glasses, as you wish. We will also accommodate needs for a microwave and refrigeration.

Among the amenities in your room are terrycloth robes, large spa towels, luxurious bedding, bath products, ambience fireplaces, hairdryers, unique art and furnishings, flowers/plants, and so much more. WiFi is available throughout the inn and we can provide access to a computer and printer if needed. Books, magazines, and some DVDs are available in the living room and may be taken to your room or enjoyed in the living room, which could also be a site for playing a game or socializing. We have a couple of DVD and CD players that may be borrowed and more reading material about the area than you will possibly want.

WINTER AT RUBY ROSE RANCHIf you would like us to arrange for flowers, a celebratory cake, or have other special requests, please communicate with us directly. We will be happy to make these happen. Massages can be arranged for on- or off-site.

We can readily accommodate small weddings, reunions or group events and are happy to recommend caterers and other resources. Reservations should be made as far in advance as possible and requires rental of the entire ranch.

About your Innkeepers

Sandy Rosen is an artist trained as a painter who for most of her career has done large scale museum-oriented installation work, perhaps best thought of stage sets that tell a many layered story of its past inhabitants. The recipient of numerous grants including a mid-career National Endowment for the Arts grant, her work has mainly been seen in the eastern part of the country. She has spent goodly time as a museum education consultant, and has taught extensively. Rosen will have a studio and gallery/shop on the ranch which can be visited by guests.

Besides her art, she is a horseback rider and animal watcher who loves to garden, travel, read, follow politics, cook, watch movies and be refreshed by meeting people from all parts of the world.

RUBY ROSE RANCH HOST JIM MAXWELLSandy created and, for 10 very successful years, ran a bed and breakfast in Joshua Tree, California (The Rosebud Ruby Star). Situated just outside of Joshua Tree National Park, the Rosebud Ruby Star was touted in the LA Times, Sunset magazine, Lonely Planet and others. Sandy has left the desert for the wonders of Colorado along with her partner and also your host, Jim Maxwell.

Jim is your consummate outdoor guy. He loves to fish (oh, those rainbows!), hunt, is an archer, loves the woods, knows a lot about wildlife and has endless information to share with you as well as some pretty crazy stories. He makes everything on the Ruby Rose Ranch possible!

We invite you to our lovely mountain sanctuary, quiet, away from hustle and bustle and yet easily accessible.

Man spricht hier etwas Deutsch. On parle un peu de francais ici.
